A video describing the results of the holiday shopping season. The study was rather comprehensive with over 800 retail sites used as the benchmark for this research.
On Christmas Day, online sales were up 16%. Of these sales, almost one half (48%) of the traffic was from mobile devices (smart phones and tablets). The research study found an interesting pattern. Consumers were browsing online sites using their smart phones. However, when the activity transitioned to purchase, more traffic was initiated using a tablet. More traffic was referred by iOS rather than Android. The researchers believe that there are some income demographics which could have created this OS usage.
